Axis has cut hair in downtown Vancouver since 1989 and now sits in Coal Harbour, making it one of the longest-established salons in the city. It has trained well over a thousand stylists, and education is still built into how it runs. Technology and brands

Axis makes its own Canadian care line, launched in 1997 — paraben-free and free of synthetic fragrance, built around concentrated, colour-safe formulas that suit sensitive scalps. Behind the chair the salon partners with Wella Professionals for colour and repair and with Davines for its eco-minded formulas. The aerosol-free policy is a genuine technical choice, not just a comfort one.

Team and stylists

Axis was founded by stylist Foster Eastman and has grown into a full team since. The current floor includes colour specialists Reanne and Pierre, stylists Hannah and Michael, and Colleen, who looks after both the front desk and hair extensions. Rather than leaning on one name, the salon spreads specialisms across the room so guests are matched to the right person.
