About the salon

Suki’s opened its first salon in 1972 and has spent more than five decades building one of the longest-running hairdressing names in British Columbia. The downtown location is the flagship of a small group of salons across the province, and it carries the scale that history brings: a deep bench of cutters and colour specialists under one roof.

Services

The core is precision cutting and custom colour. Colour work spans glosses and toners, root retouches, all-over colour, partial and full highlights, lowlights, balayage, full and retouch bleach-outs, corrective colour and creative colour. There are also barber cuts, blow-dry and styling, formal and event styling, permanent waves, hair extensions, smoothing treatments and ionic Japanese straightening.

Technology and brands

Balayage, foil work and bleach-outs are treated as separate technical disciplines rather than one service, which is why corrective and creative colour are quoted after a consultation instead of booked blind. Ionic straightening is the standout technical offering. The retail shelf leans luxury, with Oribe, Goldwell and Varis for maintaining colour and condition between visits.

Team and stylists

The house was founded by Suki Takagi, a trained, award-winning hairdresser whose name the salons still carry. The downtown floor works with more than thirty stylists and colour specialists across a range of experience levels, so the same address can handle a straightforward trim or a multi-session colour rebuild. Suki’s Academy runs cutting and colour instruction, keeping the training pipeline in house.

The Space

The salon sits in the heart of downtown among the luxury retail blocks, and it opens early — from eight most mornings — which makes it workable before an office start. The floor is large and busy rather than boutique, with stations spread across an open room.
